Butterflies and bees are in big trouble because people use pesticides to kill weeds and insects. However, these pesticides do not limit themselves to the targeted "intruders." They kill indiscriminately. For that reason, Monarch Butterflies and Honey Bees are in steep, steep decline. Therefore, every year I expand my pollinator garden to feed as many butterflies and bees as possible. (Before buying flowers for your garden, check to see if they provide nectar and pollen for pollinators.)I took this image of a Tiger Swalllowtail on a zinnia in my front yard. However, not until just a moment ago, when prepping this photo for upload, did I notice the tiny Honey Bee also grazing the bloom. What a nice surprise!
