A Partridge in a Pear Tree?

 

I don't think so . . . though this is a photo of a bird in a pear tree. The question is . . .  What bird? Any guesses? If you think this is an unfair question given that the bird in this photograph is somewhat camouflaged, I think you're right. But how else could I use a thoroughly unclear image if not as a guessing game? 
 
I both saw and heard our mystery bird fly into this pear tree and did get to study her/him. So, should I solve the mystery? Or maybe you'd prefer to offer an answer?
